The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires all contractors performing construction for them to comply with the “Contractor Quality Control” (CQC) provisions in their contracts. In cooperation with the construction industry, the Corps developed a training course entitled “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” (CQM). The course offers prospective QC Managers/ Administrators the opportunity to satisfy the Construction Quality Management Certification (CQM-C) training requirements specified in most USACE and NAVFAC construction contracts. This course must be taken and the final test must be passed by any person aspiring to be the QC Manager/Administrator or alternate. The CQC requirements and the Governments Quality Assurance (QA) roles are reviewed.
The certificate issued upon successful completion of the CQM class is good for five years and is valid for Corps, Navy, and other Federal agency projects. It is recommended that contractors review contract specifications to ensure changes have not been made to the requirements.
