Day in Historic Philadelphia
Walk in the footsteps of our country’s Founding Fathers as you visit the “most historic square mile in the America.” This will include the Liberty Bell, the hallowed symbol of our nation's freedom; Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were crafted; Congress Hall, the site of the first peaceful transfer of power; Franklin Court, the site of the home and print shop of one of Philadelphia's most prominent citizens, Benjamin Franklin; the Betsy Ross house, home of the seamstress who sewed our first “Stars and Stripes”; Christ Church where our forefathers worshipped; and Elfreth's Alley, the oldest continuously residential street in the country.
You will stop for lunch at the City Tavern which was built in 1772 and served as a meeting place for the First Continental Congress, George Washington, and foreign dignitaries. During our lunch, our server will provide more background on the history of the City Tavern and the significance of the tavern in our country’s early history.
