2025 Equity Institute

Title: Building Vibrant, Diverse, Civically Engaged, and Equitable Communities

Date: February 18, 2025

Time: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Description:

Join us for a highly interactive and approach-driven institute dedicated to exploring the components of a diverse, equitable, and vibrant community. Guided by ATD’s Equity Toolkit and the Community Vibrancy Framework, the institute will focus on actionable steps community college leaders can take to design an equity-centered institution where diverse students thrive socially and economically.

Institutional and societal inequities serve as barriers for marginalized and minoritized students who aim to achieve social mobility. During the institute, attendees will learn strategies to foster deeper connections with their community, create mutually beneficial equity-focused partnerships, and prioritize the needs of minoritized and marginalized students. Additionally, attendees will gain valuable insights and practical tools to assist their students to become civically engaged and advocate for the supports they need to be successful.

This institute will highlight community programs, and partnerships that can serve colleges where programs supporting diverse students have been eliminated.

Don't miss this opportunity to connect with like-minded leaders, share ideas, and collaborate on building an equitable and inclusive future for your students and communities.

Through participation in the institute, participants will accomplish the following:

  • Develop a partnerships inventory to survey strengths and opportunities for collaboration
  • Learn how to strategically collaborate with community organizations including workforce partners
  • Develop actionable plans to enhance community outreach, support marginalized and minoritized student populations, and foster civic engagement
  • Cultivate meaningful connections with devoted peers to strengthen collaboration
