Featured Speakers:

Dr. Shirley Burnett, Interim Mathematics Department Chair and Instructor
Dr. Michele Hampton, Professor in Business Administration
Ayse Durmus, M.A., ATD Equity Consultant, ESL Instructor

Traditional classroom assessments (exams, quizzes, essays) work for some students, but do they demonstrate learning for students who experience inequitable outcomes? How do we measure learning and growth in a way that supports student success? This workshop will provide examples of successful innovative and digital assessment approaches that center students and allow for authentic and culturally responsive measurement of student learning. Additionally, participants will learn strategies to deconstruct their own assignments and outcomes.

We invite you to register today for the 2022 Operationalizing Equity, Social Justice, and Inclusion to Transform Teaching and Learning  Webinar Series

This series will provide a four-pronged approach for advancing inclusive teaching as it relates to issues of equity in institutions of higher education (IHEs) and digital learning.  Participants will engage in moderated panel discussions led by diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) experts. The webinars will focus on embedding inclusion, equity, and social justice in course content; the process of operationalizing equity; developing culturally responsive assessments; and creating inclusive environments.

Through this four-part series, participants will develop and enhance their skills to transform institutions through leveraging digital learning tools, and operationalizing equity, social justice, and inclusion in teaching and learning. In alignment with Achieving the Dream and Every Learner Everywhere’s vision, these webinars are founded on equity and access to inclusive classroom environments that advance the implementation of teaching and learning practices that address racial and economic inequities through an antiracist lens.

Through inclusive content, students are affirmed, validated, and embraced. This webinar will explore how to develop and design course content that is intentionally inclusive of diverse students, perspectives, cultures, and lived experiences. In this webinar, panelists will share evidenced-based instructional practices, digital tools that enhance student learning, and strategies to support faculty in developing course content, curriculum, and materials that engage students of color in ways that are meaningful to them, honor their funds of knowledge, and are culturally relevant and responsive.

The process of engaging in and implementing equity, diversity, and inclusion can be daunting. The process should be incremental while demonstrating impact in equitable student outcomes. In this webinar, panelists will share components/tenets to purposefully embed equity, social justice, and inclusion into innovative teaching and learning in face-to-face and virtual spaces. Through a moderated discussion participants will examine protocols, approaches, and digital enhancing techniques that put into action practices that lead to equitable outcomes in teaching and learning.

Democratizing Learning Environments
Wednesday, May 4, 2022 1:00pm - 2:00pm ET
In this webinar, participants will engage in dialogue and discourse with panelists as it relates to co-creating environments that support and humanize students’ academic experiences while affirming their strengths and potential in the classroom. Additionally, panelists will address inclusive practices, instructional strategies, and digital tools that foster a climate of belonging, open dialogue, student-centered engagement, and the co-construction of knowledge in the classroom and beyond.
