ATD STUDENT PARENT SUCCESS SUMMIT

Student parents face a multitude of obstacles to completion of their postsecondary and career goals. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and resurgent racial tensions are intensifying the challenges these students face, particularly for student parents of color, student mothers, and low-income student parents.

This summit will explore the experience of student parents pursuing postsecondary credentials and share practical strategies colleges can implement to better serve these students during the pandemic and beyond. Sessions will also take a deep look at equity through the lens of parenting students with emphasis on the intersection of race, gender, and socioeconomics. Speakers will share examples of the practical application of campus-based policy, practice, and programs to support equitable outcomes for student parents. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies and tips from dynamic speakers and engage with peers to delve into the nuance of reality for parenting students.

 

Who Should Attend?

Higher education professionals and community-based organizations interested in improving academic and career outcomes for students who are parenting whilst in college will benefit from participating in this event. This includes institutional leaders and frontline faculty and staff. Teams are not required but are welcome to attend.


Registration Fees:  

  • Active ATD Network College: Complimentary for ATD Network Colleges. Registration fees are covered through the generosity of the Ascendium Education Group Practitioner Fellowship. 
  • Out-of-Network College/Guest: $129 per person

Cancellations received after October 22, 2020 are subject to a $75 administrative fee. Substitution requests may be submitted in writing to sfullerton@achievingthedream.org by EOB Monday, November 2 and will be confirmed via return e-mail.
