COVID-19 Conference Attendance Policy and Protocols

To promote safety and well-being, ATD encourages all attendees and staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to participating in-person in any ATD conference or meeting in accordance with applicable law.

All attendees will also be encouraged to wear facemasks indoors except when presenting, when eating or drinking in designated areas, and/or as otherwise required by applicable law and guidance for the duration of the Meeting.

All attendees will be expected to follow relevant guidance provided by the CDC; adhere to government-issued travel restrictions; evaluate their own health and that of people they are in close contact with; not to attend the Meeting if they are feeling sick or exhibiting any flu-like symptoms; and contact ATD staff if they have concerns.

All attendees and exhibitors will be asked to agree to the following COVID-19 policies and guidelines at point of registration:

By registering for this conference, I agree that I will carefully review and, during the event and all event-related activities, comply with all applicable COVID-19-related federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance, including but not limited to the https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19 regulations, and any other protocols that may be implemented by ATD or the conference venue.

I acknowledge that ATD cannot guarantee that attendees will not be exposed to or contract COVID-19 while attending the conference, and that by attending they may be exposing or increasing their risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

I understand that ATD will continue to closely monitor conditions related to COVID-19 between now and the start of the conference and that ATD reserves the right to modify its COVID-19 related procedures and health screening protocols in its sole discretion at any time. Registrants will be informed of any such changes on an ongoing basis. As a condition of attendance and participation, I agree to follow the protocols as required by ATD and/or the conference venue. Refusal to abide by ATD’s COVID-19 related procedures may result in ejection from the conference and cancellation of registration.

Kickoff Institute

What is the Kickoff Institute?

The Kickoff Institute is the event that launches your participation in Achieving the Dream's (ATD) National Reform Network. The Kickoff Institute is designed to prepare college teams to begin or intensify the process of transformational institutional improvement change as part of Achieving the Dream's Network. Attendees will begin planning for the integration and alignment of their student success work into a single cohesive effort with their leadership and data ATD coaches. Colleges will also be introduced to the Institutional Capacity Assessment Tool (ICAT) and see how colleges have used ATD's framework to build institutional capacity. Teams will return to campus with a roadmap for moving forward.



Who should we bring to Kickoff?

Colleges are strongly encouraged to bring the following Core Team members:

· College President

· Director of Institutional Research

· Chief Academic Officer

· Chief Student Affairs Officers

· A Key Faculty Leader

Also consider bringing

· DEI Officer or equivalent position

· Director of Teaching Excellence or equivalent position

· Instructional Faculty (Math/English, General Education)

· Student Affairs staff

· Deans

· Additional IR/IE staff

· Chief Information Officer or equivalent position

· Public Information Officer or equivalent position



How many people can my college send to Kickoff?

Each college attending Kickoff will receive four (4) complimentary registrations to Kickoff. A maximum of six additional representatives from the college, for a total of ten (10) participants, may attend the Kickoff. Please note that while registration fees for the first four attendees from each college are included in the annual participation fee for the college, there is a registration fee of $600 USD per additional attendee. Colleges are responsible for the travel and lodging costs for all attendees. The four complimentary registrations and additional registrations can be reserved by going to the following 2023 ATD Kickoff Registration Site, which you can access here.


If your college would like to have more than ten people attend the Kickoff, you can submit an email request to rknight@achievingthedream.org no later than Wednesday, May 15, 2023, with "2023 Kickoff Registration Request" in the subject line. In this email, please include the name(s) and title(s) of the additional people your college would like to register and why you would like these additional individuals to attend. Because of space limitations, ATD may not be able to accommodate all requests. Once ATD has heard from all colleges, we will respond to individual requests.

Colleges attending Kickoff as part of the Kickoff Preview Experience receive four (4) registrations. Preview colleges can bring an additional four (4) people; registration is $750 per person. Please contact rknight@achievingthedream.org if you have any questions.


What does the registration for Kickoff Preview Experience cover?

Registration for the Kickoff Preview Experience will include all meetings. Also included are a Welcome Reception; breakfast and lunch each day (Tuesday through Thursday); facilitated team time with an ATD coach during the institute; and access to online Kickoff resources for one year following kickoff.


What is NOT covered by the Achieving the Dream participation fee?

Travel, Lodging, and Transportation - Colleges are responsible for arranging and funding their lodging and travel to and from Kickoff.

Meals - Dinner each evening of Kickoff will be on your own.

How do I reserve a hotel room for Kickoff?

A block of rooms has been reserved for Kickoff participants at the conference rate of $169 plus tax per night. College representatives are responsible for making their hotel reservations by Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Reservations can be made at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee hotel, using this special reservation link.


Please note: Hotel reservations made by any method other than the one described above are not guaranteed at the conference room rate.



How do I prepare for Kickoff?

Colleges participating in Kickoff are required to complete a Student Success Inventory and Data Template no later than June 2, 2023.


What do I bring to Kickoff?

Please bring a copy of your academic calendar to help during the planning process, Student Success Inventory and completed data template. We also recommend you bring copies of your completed application and/or other Kickoff homework submissions for reference during your Team Time sessions.



How can I access resources after Kickoff?

All resources will be available on ATD Connect, Achieving the Dream’s platform for collaboration and professional development. If you have trouble accessing these resources after Kickoff or need access to ATD Connect, please contact Ryan Knight at rknight@achievingthedream.org.
