The Army is leading a Joint effort to transition the Army Facilities Component System (AFCS) and its automated application, the Theater Construction Management System (TCMS), to a Joint Construction Management System (JCMS).  The JCMS will contain a common data base of Joint standard designs for contingency facilities and bases that are compliant with Unified Facilities Criteria for Non-Permanent Facilities; have master planning tools that have the capability to integrate geographic information system (GIS) data to support base planning and design; be interoperable with commercial software used for construction management and facility design; and be interoperable with Service logistical systems to streamline bill of material acquisition.  These enhanced capabilities will provide Joint Engineers the necessary tools to plan for and execute effective and efficient contingency construction in support of Combatant Command missions.  This workshop will provide an overview of the current capabilities of TCMS and the ongoing efforts to enhance those capabilities with the release of the Joint Construction Management System in May of 2013.
