Media Registration Policy for the 2012 IPI Conference & Expo

We are pleased to invite you to the 2012 IPI Conference & Expo. Media registering to attend will have access to IPI Conference & Expo’s exhibit hall and education sessions.  Access to the opening keynote breakfast & the closing Gala (ticketed events) will be limited and prior permission must be received from IPI.

Press should be pre-registered for the IPI Conference & Expo to expedite the registration and verification process. Press Badges will be held for pick-up at registration at the IPI Conference & Expo.  IPI reserves the right to deny any request for press access.  All press/media requests are subject to verification by IPI.  Those deemed not qualified as press/media may still attend, but will need to register and pay for registration.

Please use the following guidelines when registering.

 

Print Media & Newswire Reporters:

To qualify as media, print and newswire journalists must provide:

  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title and media outlet's logo, AND
  • A bylined industry-related article from your publication written by you and published within the last six months (the copy must clearly show the name of your publication and your byline).
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested

Freelance Journalists:

Please note: Freelance writers from unqualified media outlets will not be admitted. Qualification of all media outlets will be determined by the registration staff. In order to qualify as a freelance journalist, we require that you provide:

  • A letter from a publisher, editor or producer (on their letterhead) stating that you are covering the event on assignment, AND
  • A bylined industry-related article from your publication (above) written by you and published within the last six months (the copy must clearly show the name of the publication and your byline), AND
  • If you are a freelance journalist for online media, you must also provide a copy of the website's business license or government issued documentation showing the business's federal tax identification number.
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested.

Online Reporters:

Only journalists with commercial news websites qualify for media badges. Sites must be previously established and updated regularly with original and current industry news. Fan sites, personal website writers, designers, editors or creators cannot be registered as media, but can register as a paid attendee for the show. To qualify as online media, please provide:

  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title and media outlet's logo, AND
  • A PRINTED copy of your online publication with your name and title appearing in an editorial capacity, including a bylined industry-related article from your publication written by you and published within the last six months (the copy must clearly show the name of the publication and your byline), AND
  • A copy of the website's business license or government issued documentation showing the business's federal tax identification number.
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested.

Broadcast Journalists & Photographers:

Each member of a broadcast crew must register separately. To qualify as media, please provide:

  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title and media outlet's logo, AND
  • A letter from a producer/editor (on company letterhead) stating that you are covering the show on assignment.
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested.

University and Student Publications

University publications are limited to one media representative. Please provide:

  • A copy of the university publication with your name in the masthead, AND
  • At least two copies of the university publication with your published byline, AND
  • A letter from your editor (on the publication’s letterhead) stating that you are covering the show on assignment.
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested

Industry and Financial Analysts:

Please provide:

  • A copy of your business card with name, title and company logo, AND
  • A recent report or bulletin with your byline (published within the last six months).
  • A copy of your driver’s license for verification may be requested

On-Site Media Registration

Editorial members of the media may register on-site with advance notification to Helen Sullivan, IPI Communications Counsel. Cell: 703 606 7622 or sullivan@parking.org.

To register, bring proof of your business affiliation plus government-issued photo I.D. (driver’s license, passport, etc.)

Only editorial members of the media may receive a Press Badge/press registration. The following positions at media outlets do not qualify as Press, and may register as paid attendees:

  • Account executives or sales representatives
  • Publishers
  • Public relations or advertising personnel
  • Marketing representatives
  • Presidents, vice presidents, district managers
  • No photography or videotaping without IPI and exhibitors’ permission.  Photographers and video crew members must obtain an “Authorized Photographer/Video Crew” badge and attach to their Press badge.
