Share your expertise and knowledge with school board members, educational leaders, and students by participating in this esteemed event. Submit a proposal for a session that is distinctive, noteworthy and useful for our members, and yours just might be selected!

Submission deadline is February 10, 2012EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 17, 2012

What makes a good written proposal?

  • Be specific and avoid generalizations.  Remember that school board members and superintendents attend NYSSBA’s convention to learn how to better serve their school districts, with adaptable, and specific ideas. School leaders have the overall picture; they’re looking for real, how-to information.
  • Include policy information, where applicable. Over 85% of your audience consists of school board members whose primary responsibility is policy governance—you should try to include policy implications in your presentation.
  • Stay with the subject.  Clinics are short and time is valuable. Try to refrain from idle commentary and jokes. Humor is a wonderful vehicle to emphasize a point, but be careful not to sacrifice information for entertainment. Also, please remember the description used in the program book – your audience expects you to stay within the parameters.
