Most Innovative New Product Awards
New for 2012! Introducing the new & improved Most Innovative New Product Awards (formerly the Buyers' Choice awards). These awards will showcase the most innovative ideas, concepts and products in two of the fastest growing categories in the marketplace. Submit your product to be taste tested by a select panel and voted on at the show by your customers. Awards will be announced Wednesday, May 9 at the morning Keynote Session!
Product selection in 2012 will include a nomination process conducted by a carefully selected panel who will taste-test items submitted along with judging the quality of packaging, go-to-market potential and originality.
Criteria for panel judging of product submissions:
• Quality presentation/packaging
• Saleability – go-to-market potential/value of product
About The Panel: The panel features a wide range of experts to ensure all voices are heard, including those of leading candy and snack buyers. It will consist of a mix of retailers, wholesalers, trade media, and food industry experts.
How It Works: The panel will select up to five nominations per category the day before the EXPO opens - a maximum of 40 product nominees will be selected.
Submissions will be judged in eight categories:
• non chocolate - includes gum & mints
• novelty/licensed (candy & snacks)
• gourmet/premium (candy & snacks)
• seasonal (candy & snacks)
• salty snacks
• sweet snacks
• savory snacks
The panel-selected product nominees will be displayed in the Most Innovative New Product Awards showcase at the 2012 EXPO (located within the New Product Showcase).
Exhibitors Are Recognized: Companies whose products are nominated will receive special signage for their booth to alert attendees that their product was nominated for the Most Innovative New Product Awards.
Attendees Still Cast the Final Vote! Retailers and wholesalers attending the EXPO will then have two show days to taste and test the products before casting their vote by scanning the products they preferred in each category in the Most Innovation New Product Awards showcase.
Awards Presented at the EXPO: Category winners will be announced to all EXPO visitors, industry executives and media in a special awards celebration on Wednesday, May 9 before the show opens.
Product requirements: Product must be new since the 2011 EXPO and cannot be packaging changes or line extensions. Company must bee exhibiting in the 2012 EXPO.
Submissions: Each product can only be entered in one category
Cost: $50 per product entry – maximum of 5 products can be submitted.
Deadline to enter: Space is limited so sign up today!
Product submission: 25 individual product samples (including packaging) must be submitted to the judging room, W471 at McCormick Place, on Monday, May 7th by 10:00 am. Items must be hand delivered on-site – products cannot be shipped in advance.
New Product Showcase
The New Product Showcase is the first stop that customers make when arriving at the show and is one of the most popular destinations at the EXPO! Customers will be able to scan your shelf and receive an email listing their scans driving traffic directly to your booth!
New confectionery and snack products are one of the primary reasons that customers attend the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO. In addition to a live look-up on the website, the Showcase will be located just outside the show floor entrance, and opened early so that customers can plan their day and determine which booths they wish to visit. Customers will have scanners so that they can scan your shelf and receive an email or print out of the products they are interested in, driving traffic directly to your booth.
Please Note - Innovation and creativity in product development is a hallmark of the sweets and snacks industry. To maintain the credibility of the New Product Showcase, products in the showcase must be new to the market since last year's EXPO, and may not be packaging changes or line extensions. In order to maintain the integrity of the Showcase, NCA will be evaluating all items for adherence to these criteria. Your customers are telling us they're searching for true innovation, so please respect the intent of this show feature which is to announce and celebrate product innovation.
The shelves in the New Product Showcase are approximately 38 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 13 inches high, and the cost is $350 per shelf. For first time exhibitors, your shelf size is the same but 18 inches wide. Please make sure you have the required items before reserving your shelf. All new products for your shelf should be sent to the show with your booth shipment. Items that will be required to reserve a shelf:

- Payment of $350 per shelf (if you have a discount code it will be asked for on the final payment page)
